#prayforayah

The year 2015 started off good. We went for a family vacation in Penang in February as one of my cousins got married and I went back to Kuching to visit the in-laws.

Then it all went downhill from there. Ayah had fallen asleep during one of his dialysis session and had a hypoglycaemic attack where his sugar level dropped to 1.7. He was unconscious for several hours. That was when we discovered that there was also a wound on his right heel and it had blackened. All this while he refused to go to the doctor to get it treated.

Fast forward 2 months later, he had suffered a stroke which left him speech impaired and right leg amputated up till his ankle. He has got tubes everywhere on his body and his spirit is low. I can tell from the look in his face. Like he is broken.

It breaks my heart watching him suffer like that. But I believe Ayah is a fighter. Please fight harder, Ayah. We are all here for you.

Ya Allah.. kami memohon kepadaMu..
Ayah kami sedang menderita sakit, tolong berikan kesembuhan kepadanya ya Allah..
Amin

Happy Birthday to Me

I turned 40 a few days ago. F-O-R-T-Y. The big four-oh. They even created a tagline for people who turns 40 i.e. Life begins at 40.

Age is just a number, right? Yada yada yada...I am telling you I can actually FEEL my age. I get tired easily. My legs ache after walking for a few hours especially in a shopping mall. Dont get me wrong. I lurve shopping and dont mind walking if I can get that nice handbag or cosmetics but these days I just feel so tired.

Hubs and I just got back from JB. We visited Legoland and JPO. What do those 2 places have in common? More walking! Geez, I wished they had invented a cool and hip stroller for adults, not like the wheelchair but you know like those cool strollers that people sell on fb for kids. LOL.

You know when you get older you always think about how fragile life is, you start to think about your own mortality, your accomplishments, failures etc. Yes, you feel blessed that God has allowed you to live this long but at the same time you ask yourself what else can you do to make your life better.

I have no children of my own. I am taking care of my 3 year old niece which could be taken away from me anytime by my brother and his wife. I dont know what I would do if that happens. When I see my friends with their own children I do feel a sense of envy. Not the bad kind of envious feelings but the sad kind i.e. like why dont I have one of my own. I know God has His own reasons but as a human being I cant help but wonder about these things.

It is just one of those days I guess where you feel melancholic because you feel so old.

I know I will feel better when I see the little princess at home after I come back from work. She makes me feel better everytime I see her. I love you my dear Sayang. You will always be my special one.

Of Acceptance and Gratitude...

Another Ramadhan has passed and without fail my doa is still the same. I hope Allah heard my prayers and accepted them. Ameen. Hari Raya this year was celebrated modestly. We went back to my hometown in Sg Petani. I miss my arwah Tok Yang and Tok Ayah. Raya is just not the same without them. I pity my parents, uncles and aunties celebrating raya without their parents. Whenever we visit my Tok Ayah's grave my mom will cry without fail. My heart felt so heavy and I pray that Allah bless longevity of age to my parents. I dont think Im ready to lose any of them especially my mom anytime soon. I want her to see me get pregnant, safely give birth and hold my child in her arms before she dies.

A lot of good things had happened to me this year, Alhamdulillah. I just got promoted and transferred to a department which is totally alien and new to me. I had to learn from scratch but I am thankful that I have got very helpful colleagues that helped me through the transition. Im glad I dont have to deal with a temperamental boss and same old projects that I fear will not see the light of day. But I do miss colleagues from my previous dept. They keep me sane.

I had also attended a certification programme  for 18 days called ASET (Accelerated Skill Enhancement Training) funded by the Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF) under Ministry of Human Resources Malaysia whereby at the end of the programme I can proudly call myself a "Trainer" certified by the CIPD, UK.

So yes, this year I have been blessed with good things. I have learned to accept that everything happens for a reason. When Allah takes one thing away from us, He replaced it with other things in return. Only Allah knows best.

My niece Sayang will turn 2 (shes already turning into a terrible 2 now!) in September and I was thinking of throwing her a birthday party. The planning would be a nightmare I think since I dont have much experience or creativity in organising a bday party, let alone for kids. The last one I organised was 4 years ago when my nephew Hareez was 3 years old. Maybe I should ask help from good friends who have had experience in organising kids bday parties.

I can't believe we're almost entering the month of September. 3rd quarter of the year has passed and soon with a blink of an eye we'll be celebrating the new year. And every year I would ask myself am I proud of my accomplishment and is there anything that I would change or do better this year. Am I becoming a better muslimah, daughter and wife?

I plan to start writing more often. It is going to be slow but InsyaAllah I will try to do it as often as possible.

Welcome Back, Sherie :-)

Of Anniversary and Birthday

It’s that time of the month again. My wedding anniversary has passed and my birthday is looming. Somehow I find myself updating my blog without fail in February. I guess it is my favourite month.

I celebrated my 5th Wedding Anniversary yesterday. Hubby and I both took leave and we had lunch at Las Vacas, Mont Kiara. Hubby and I always celebrate our anniversaries in moderation. No dining at fancy schmancy place and no super duper expensive gifts being exchanged. This year we are spending our 5th year anniversary in Krabi sometime in March. I am so looking forward to the trip, just the both of us without the nieces and nephew.

I can’t believe I’ve been married for 5 years already. Felt like it was only yesterday that we went for fitting at laser mouth Man Kajang’s place. I can still remember I was trying to lose weight as much as possible to fit into my gorgeous purple wedding dress. I don’t care if people say I’m perasan. I thought I made a pretty good looking bride. LOL!

Hubby and I had gone through so much over the past year. My first pregnancy and miscarriage took a toll on us. 2011 was a very challenging year. Everytime after solat tak penah lekang from my mouth doa for us to be blessed with a child. I’m getting older and the older you get the risks is higher. Allah knows best and this is all dugaan from Him.

I’ve been reading blogs of some of my single and married friends and both single and married people encounters different challenges. It all boils down to commitment I suppose. Single people find it hard to take that step to commitmentville because they’re so use to taking care of themselves and not putting their trust in someone else’s hands whilst married people sometimes find it hard to stay committed to their spouse, the feeling of being taking for granted by their spouse leads them to the arms of a third party. I pray that will never happen to our marriage.

I don’t know what the future holds for me. Whether I’ll spend the rest of my life with my husband, whether I will ever get pregnant and have kids of my own or whether we will adopt one someday. All I know is I’m living in the moment now, I am having fun with my husband, still discovering each other’s eccentricities and loving each other dearly.

Happy 5th Anniversary Yang…may there be many more to come.

I Pray For You..Yes I Do

I came across this song and it made me laugh. Especially the chorus part which I've bold in red...can check out the video on youtube below:-

http://youtu.be/atBg9zLI2bA

I PRAY FOR YOU by JARON AND THE LONG ROAD TO LOVE

I havent been to church since I don’t remember when
Things were goin’ great ‘til they fell apart again
So I listened to the preacher as he told me what to do
He said you can’t go hatin’ others who have done wrong to you
Sometimes we get angry, but we must not condemn
Let the good Lord do His job and you just pray for them

I pray your brakes go out runnin’ down a hill
I pray a flowerpot falls from a window sill and knocks you in the head like I’d like to
I pray your birthday comes and nobody calls
I pray you’re flyin’ high when your engine stalls
I pray all your dreams never come true
Just know where ever you are honey, I pray for you

I’m really glad I found my way to church
‘Cause I’m already feelin’ better and I thank God for the words
Yeah I’m goin’to take the high road
And do what the preacher told me to do
You keep messin’ up and I’ll keep prayin’ for you

I pray your tire blows out at 110
I pray you pass out drunk with your best friend and wake up with his and her tattoos
I pray your brakes go out runnin’ down a hill
I pray a flowerpot falls from a window sill and knocks you in the head like I’d like to
I pray your birthday comes and nobody calls
I pray you’re flyin’ high when your engine stalls
I pray all your dreams never come true
Just know wherever you are, near or far, in your house or in your car, wherever you are honey, I pray for you.

Forgiveness

FORGIVENESS.

Came across this in the Islamic Thinking (click) blog. So true especially the part below:-

How can we move up the ladder of spiritual development when we hold bitterness and anger towards another person? While we may have been in the right, is it worth sacrificing our energy on a grudge instead of on growth?

Is there not something strange about asking for Allah’s forgiveness of our sins while withholding our forgiveness from someone who has hurt us?

Ramadhan is a holy month. It's the only month where your good deeds are multiplied by thousands, even millions if you're one of the lucky ones.

Ya Allah, terima lah amalanku and makbulkan lah semua doa-doaku. Hanya Kau yang Maha Mengetahui segala yang di langit dan di bumi.

Allahumma yassir wala tu'assir. Rabbi tammim bilkhoir. Birahmatikaya Arhamarrohimin.

Ya Allah, please make things easier for me and don't make them difficult.

Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri. Maaf Zahir Batin.

Not Daddy's Little Girl...

When I was small, I didn’t have the best relationship with my dad. He was a high ranking police officer and was seldom at home. I was so much closer to my mom, so I was never daddy’s little girl and can never understand the concept of being pampered by a dad. In fact I don’t remember liking my dad until I grew up and graduated from university.

I remembered we moved to Tapah when he was appointed as the DO sometime in late 70s. The house that we moved into was an old bungalow and behind it were rubber trees. I swear the house was haunted because we often hear knockings at the door and when we opened the door no one was outside. We also often hear the water taps being turned on. One of the maids told my mom that she saw a black hairy thing under the bed.

Anyway, I was 5 years old when we moved into the bungalow. I remembered that I was a very careless child. I would put my water bottle containing milo in my schoolbag and the milo would somehow spill and wet all my books. In one year, my parents went through I think 4-5 sets of books. When my dad asked me to take something out of the car, I would often lock the car and accidentally leave the car keys in the car. So I was often punished by my dad for being so careless. It was not the normal “ketuk ketampi” or “no tv for a week” kinda punishments. My punishments include standing in the hot sun without any slippers or shoes on for a few hours till I felt dizzy and both feet scorched by the hot tar road, sometimes the clothes hanger would land on my hands and sometimes he would make me stand at one corner in the house for few hours and not talk to anyone.

Because of all these punishments, I hated my dad when I was growing up. He’s not the kind of person who would come and pacify you after the punishment and actually tell you that he’s doing all that because he loves you and is teaching you a lesson. My dad was a hard man. I guess being a police officer he has to be very tough and not show any compassion. My siblings and I turn to my mom for everything. We relied on Mama for everything, be it money or love.

After my dad retired from the force, he spent more time at home, going to the mosque and praying. He is still fierce sometimes and expects people to follow what he says without question (he sometimes treat his kids like his subordinates. Giving orders instead of asking for help) but over the years he mellowed down and after getting grandchildren he learned to be gentler. I’m not saying he totally changed for the better but I can see the effort made.

My relationship with my dad is complicated. I respect him as a father even though I disagree with some of the things he does. I do love him but not in a loving sort of way. It is more like an obligation as a daughter kind of way. We’ve never celebrated Father’s Day. We’ve never given him a card on his birthday. What we siblings would do after all of us have started working is to take him out to dinner/lunch on his birthday or buy him a gift or give him money. I know he appreciates the effort and always thanked us for celebrating his birthday.

Sometimes I envy people who are close to their fathers, especially some girlfriends of mine who totally worship their dads. I don’t think I will ever have that kind of relationship with my father. I will always pray for him. I will always respect him. I will always do anything I can to make him happy. That’s my duty as a daughter as far as it goes.

This weekend is Father’s Day. I suspect my siblings and I would go about our daily lives and will not even remember the day. And I suspect my dad won’t even care or expect us to shower him with gifts. To him there is no need to celebrate Father’s Day to show how much you love your father. These days he’s content with us just buying him food or stocking up the fridge with chocolates and ice cream. It’s easy to please my dad these days, to which I am so thankful. So please don't judge me. Not all of us have perfect families. I love my dad, in my own way and will never wish him harm. I've made peace with my feelings for him. Allah knows best.

In Sickness and In Health

Last weekend was the worst weekend ever. Was down with flu, fever and cough. My throat was swollen, which is pretty weird because I had my tonsils removed last year and didnt expect the throat to be swollen like that. My nieces and nephew has their flu and fever a few weeks back and I thought I could escape the bug but apparently not. I'm still having this dreaded flu but the throat is okay and I'm feeling a whole lot better.

Suddenly last night Sayang came down with a fever and I had to give her the fever meds. Poor darling. Thank god she didnt wake up so often. She just woke up once for feeding and then went back to sleep peacefully.

I was surprised with the number of pregnancy news this month. A colleague just told me she's 3 months pregnant, with twins!!! And there are no history of twins in her or her husb's family. Kuasa Allah...I'm so happy for her and it gives me hope that if she can get twins then maybe I can too..hehehehe...

My sister in law is also pregnant. No, not Hareez's mom but my other SIL in Kedah. This would be her 4th one, insyaAllah..

My nephew Laiq is already 6 months and looking very healthy and adorable! My buah hati Sayang is already 9 months and is so cheeky and her new hobby is sticking out her tongue!

The Next Step

The hard part is over. Now, comes the harder part.

MOVING ON.

I have no clue how to do that. Health wise, I’ve been diligent in going for regular check-ups for my diabetes. My sugar level control is getting much better. I’ve not been snacking like how I used to.

What I want to know is…when is the right time to try again? Even thinking about “getting intimate” with my husband gives me a headache. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not turned off by sex. I’ve just been feeling irritable and lazy. Yes, that’s the word.

LAZY.

It’s hard to be optimistic sometimes. Sometimes I find it hard to confide with thehubby because somehow my point doesn’t get across and we end up fighting. He takes what I say personally even though I told him it has nothing to do with him and that I was just telling him how I feel. Sometimes I think it’s better to just keep my thoughts and feelings to myself, rather than risk a huge fight when I express them.

After the D&C, I had backaches and terrible stomach cramps. When I went to see the doctor, he asked me how I was feeling about the miscarriage and whether I had trouble sleeping. He suggested that I talk to a professional because sometimes the physical pain I was feeling is a manifestation of an intense emotional pain. Talk to a shrink??? Goodness. I don’t think it’s necessary. I think I’m handling all this quite well. Yes, I do break down sometimes but that’s natural, right? But I know myself. I’m a strong person inside and out and I believe I will be able to recover from the loss gradually.

I’m taking care of my niece at the moment. She’s 6 months old and I love and adore her to bits. She sleeps with me and I’ve been taking care of her since she was 2 months old. I think she’s my escapism. When I look at her, all my problems disappear for a while and I feel so much better. I don’t have to deal with my sadness and that loss, empty feeling inside. It’s bad I know but I can’t help it. This is how I deal.

I just need to figure out how this “moving on” bit works. Pray for me.

An Open Letter To Michael Buble

Dear Mr. Buble,

I was at your concert on Sunday the 13th March 2011 in KL. I had the best time of my life. You are by far the best entertainer I’ve ever seen. I thoroughly enjoyed your “party” and believe me if you ever come back to KL I will surely get the most expensive ticket because you are so worth every ringgit!

My husband is a big fan of yours. I think I started listening to your music because of him. He told me that when he was in Kuching some years ago he entered a singing competition organised by his company and he sang and danced to “Sway”. He said he listened to your rendition of Sway and loved it. He actually got 2nd place. He showed me the video of him singing and dancing to the song and it was so funny that I still make fun of him till today.

Dear Mr. Buble,

You see, about a month ago I found out that I was 8 weeks pregnant. You don’t know how happy I was to see that 2 blue lines on the pregnancy stick and also the word “pregnant” on the stick. We’ve been trying to get pregnant ever since I got married like 4 years ago. I’ve never gotten that 2 lines before even when I was late several weeks a few times. When I found out I told my husband and we went and bought another 2 pregnancy tests and tested and after that we went to see a doctor and did a blood test. The doctor confirmed my pregnancy and I was over the moon. I didn’t tell many people, just few people who were very close to me. We told our parents and they were very happy because I guess they knew how long we’ve been waiting for this good news.

However, our happiness didn’t last that long. We went for a check-up 2 weeks ago and the doctor said he couldn’t detect a heartbeat and said it was a miscarriage and told me I had to do a D&C. I can hear him saying all this words but I just couldn’t process it at that time. I felt sad, angry and wanted to kill that doctor for telling me the bad news.

Dear Mr. Buble,

The reason I’m telling you all this is to let you know that I still have hope. I listened to your song “Haven’t Met You Yet” and cried my hearts out. When I hear the first few lines of the song I can immediately relate to it. There have been so many times that I wished I was pregnant. When I’m late for even a week I’ll buy the pregnancy test and when it comes out negative I’d just cry in the bathroom. My heart breaks everytime I don’t see the 2 blue lines.

I'm Not Surprised
Not Everything Lasts
I’ve Broken My Heart So Many Times,
I Stopped Keeping Track.
Talk Myself In
I Talk Myself Out
I Get All Worked Up
Then I Let Myself Down.
I Tried So Very Hard Not To Lose It
I Came Up With A Million Excuses
I Thought I Thought Of Every Possibility

And then I listened to the rest of the lyrics from the song…

I might have to wait, I’ll never give up
I guess it's half timing and the other half's luck
Wherever you are, whenever it's right
You'll come outta nowhere and into my life

And I know that we can be so amazing
And baby your love is gonna change me
And now I can see every possibility

I still believe that there is hope for me. There are times when I just want to give up, curl on my bed, turn off the lights and cry till I can’t cry anymore. But then I thought, “Hey! I did just get pregnant naturally when all this while I thought I couldn’t. That ought to count for something, right?”

Dear Mr. Buble,

I felt really bad for my husband too. When all this was happening to me I think people forgot to ask him whether he’s okay. His family members are so far away and he doesn’t have anyone to talk to here except for me. He tried so very hard to be strong for me but I know he was devastated and upset. I know he cries when he’s alone. He tried not to do it in front of me but I know he’s hurting. I just want him to be okay. I love him so much and felt so bad that I couldn’t give him this one gift that every woman is supposed to give to their husband. I want to move on and not be so sad anymore but it’s so very hard. I still find it hard to talk to my close friends about it. I want to tell them how I’m still hurting but I’m so afraid they’re going to tell me to get over it and move on. I don’t think I can handle that. I also want my husband to know that I noticed.

I noticed how caring, thoughtful and loving he is throughout this whole ordeal. I noticed that at times he looked sad but tried to put on a strong front. I noticed how he wants to make everything better for me. I noticed.

So Mr. Buble, the conclusion to this open letter is…please keep on making good music and lyrics. I know it’s cliché for some people but your song is helping me go through this tough time. God is with me and he’s giving me strength to move on and try again. But sometimes a song does wonders as well. My husband is your biggest fan. And I guess because of him, I became a fan too.

Happy Birthday to Moi & Happy 4th Anniversary Boo!

It’s been too long since I last updated my blog. Let see, oh yes! I celebrated my 4th Wedding Anniversary and my 37th birthday all in the month of February. This year hubby and I decided not to travel far to celebrate our anniversary so we stayed one night at the Gardens Hotel. I am very impressed with the hotel room. If we’re not in our room then we’re out shopping at Gardens and Midvalley Megamall. Since it was a CNY holidays so the malls were quite and there were not many people around. It was just so nice walking around the mall with hubs at a slow pace and taking our time looking for things to buy.

On my birthday, hubs took me to a Mexican restaurant called Las Carretas near 10 Semantan for a special birthday dinner. The food was awesome and I got special treatment from the restaurant crew. Hubs said he called in advance to make reservation and they asked him if it was for any special occasion and he told them it was for my birthday and they told him not to worry as they will make it very special for me. True enough I was surprised and felt somewhat uncomfortable with all the special treatment I was getting. Never have I been to a restaurant and had a designated waitress serving us the whole time we were there. Hubs had his wagyu and I had my ribs and when hubs asked for the bill, lo and behold the restaurant crew came out with a guitar and put on a sombrero on me and sang Happy Birthday to the lovely Senorita! Hehehe…thank god there weren’t so many people in the restaurant or else I’d die of embarrassment. In any case, I have to thank my darling husband for such a wonderful dinner.

3 years to turning 40. Wow! I don’t know how comfortable I’d be turning 40 years old. Or whether I can actually tell people I’m 40 with a straight face, without cringing. Oh well…I’ll deal with it when the time comes I guess.

Besides gifts from my wonderful chickies, colleagues and hubs there is another gift that I’ve received which is just so priceless. It’s too soon to tell. I will definitely reveal when the time comes. In the meantime, happy February you guys! It’s been a great month and I’m looking forward to March!

Happy New Year!

U guessed it. I’m updating the blog just coz it’s a nice date today.

11.1.11.

Before I forget, I would like to wish all of you a very Happy New Year. How did you spend your new year? I know some people who happily stayed home and avoided the traffic jam of celebrating the New Year at the shopping malls or in town.

I spent my new year in a company of good friends and bloody good food. I mean kari ketam with sayur ramunggai, rojak buah power, thatlastslice’s red velvet cake yang sangat-sangat awesome!? Come on! That’s good food I tell you.

On 3rd of Jan, my SIL gave birth to a baby boy named Laiq Rasyad. I’m a proud aunt yet again. He’s such a tall baby. Fair-skinned and adorable. The count so far, 6 nieces and 3 nephews.

I don’t have any New Year resolutions. I’ve decided that it’s pointless to make any since I never resolved any of them within the timeframe. I figure if ever I want to start doing something positive or good then I’ll just do it. It’s not good breaking promise to oneself ever so often, kan?

I’m turning 37 next month. 3 more years to the BIG four-oh. In any case, I don’t feel like my age. In my heart I’m still 29.

I’ll be celebrating my 4th wedding anniversary next month too. How time flies. I am grateful to be married to this wonderful man. We have our flaws, he and I but we fit perfectly well together I think. Bak kata Faizal Tahir in Hanyut,

Maafkanlah ku tak bisa hidup tanpa kamu
Fahamilah ku tak mampu terus tanpa kamu
Bagaimana ku nanti
Bila tiada mengganti
Yang ku ada hanya kamu saja
Saat mata terpejam
Hanya kau ku terbayang
Menghapus semua segala rasa di jiwaku
Saat mata terbuka
Kamulah yang pertama
Tak mampu aku bayangkan
Hidup tanpa dirimu

Life Is Too Short

Most of the time we take life for granted. We act as if we’re going to live forever when it should be the other way around. We should live as if we are going to die tomorrow. But how many of us actually think about death everyday? Usually, we would think about what movies to watch, where to eat, what house or car we’re going to buy or where to go on holidays. Thinking about death is just too grim and depressing, especially when you think you’re too young to meet your maker. Why think about your mortality when there are other more interesting things to look forward to in life, right?

Last week, my mom told me she dreamt of my late grandma, Tok Yang. Tok Yang came to her and told her she’s going to take my mom to a wonderful place. When my mom told me of her dream, my heart skipped a beat because usually when people dream about something like that it means they’re going to die soon. I told her to stop talking about it, that she’s not going anywhere with my grandma and told her that she was going to live forever and that I am not prepared to lose her anytime soon. Because really, who wants to entertain the thought of their loved ones especially their parents not being around? I admit when it comes to my parents’ mortality especially my mother, I am one of those who are in perpetual denial. I want to think that she will outlive me because I don’t think I can survive without her.

After my mom told me about her dream, I can’t stop thinking about death. It’s not that I purposely want to think about it. I kept thinking how I would react if she was taken from me. And what can I do now so I won’t regret anything later? So now I try to make every day count. Every morning I would go to her room and kiss her good morning, something I rarely do before because I’m always late and will usually be in a rush to work. Whenever she wants me to do something, I try not to procrastinate and to do it as soon as I could. I try not to lose temper when she nags about small things. Take her out for breakfast, grocery shopping and to watch a theatre. She may not see the difference in my behavior now but to me it’s important that I do all that I guess. It’s important because if God were to take her away from me, I will have no regrets. I can honestly say, “I have done everything that a daughter is supposed to do for her mother.”

We always hear the words “Life is too short”. One day we could be healthy as a horse, and then suddenly stricken with an incurable disease the next. How many of us actually believe those words and try to do everything we can to make each second of our life meaningful? Well, I am trying to do my part bit by bit. Trying to make my life more meaningful and not fret over little things.

I am trying and I am thankful I have good friends and family members who will no doubt remind me if I ever forget.

20102010

I'm just updating my blog because it is such a cool date today. Hahahaha!

Ok so hows everybody doing? It has not been a slow month, it’s just that I haven’t been to many raya open houses this year. Not being anti-social but it's just tiring taking care of nephew and nieces and when the weekend comes all I wanna do is sleep and watch tv.

Last week, I went for Adam Lambert's concert. Whatever you say about the man he can sure sing la. He has a very powerful voice and such a good performer. He sang some of the songs from his idol days and also from his album. I was so excited when he sang If I Had You, Strut and Whadaya Want From Me.

Oh and hubby was handed this flyer by a PAS protester outside the concert venue. Hehehe..one of them tried to pass this flyer to me but I just smiled and politely said no thanks. Adoi, he made me feel so guilty la. There I was standing, wearing tudung with goth make-up on. Hahaha!

I was also involved as a volunteer for the World Capital Market Symposium which was held end of September at Shangri-La Hotel this year. It was a good experience and I get to meet an array of world capital market specialists. I volunteered as a Liaison Officer or LO and it was a lot of work. I mean the LOs have to be on top of things even before these delegates arrived. But it was worth it I guess. I got to meet Dr. Nouriel Roubini, an economics professor at New York University's Stern School of Business and chairman of Roubini Global Economics, an economic consultancy firm. He is also known as “Dr. Doom” for having predicted that US was going to face an economic crisis 2 years ago. I also had the pleasure of meeting Jimmy Wales, the founder of Wikipedia. He was so passionate when he talked about how he started wiki.

We also have a new addition to the family. My brother and SIL’s 4th child whom they decide to name Maira Syafeenaz Sayang. The 2nd one was named Maizatul Sabreena Cinta, the 3rd Maisarah Syakeela Qaseh and now the 4th one is Sayang. Don’t ask me what he was thinking. The poor child having to live with the name Sayang.

My other niece Cinta and nephew Hareez was featured as models in the Mingguan Wanita raya edition below. Geramness!

I took this at one of my friend's open houses. They fight a lot but they're close, as how a bro and sis should be.
