The bus trip to Singapore
I bought Aeroline tickets which costs me RM165 return. It was an okay looking double-decker bus, quite comfortable, well-maintained and thank god the seats are made of leather so there were no visible stains and no funny smell. I was so excited about the concert that I had printed out all of Coldplay’s lyrics and was singing in the bus. Hehehe…geek I know! I have to thank Princess Sparkle for “gently forcing” me to go, Athena for booking and paying for the tickets first and Mrs. Jacque for being my roomie (will not tell anyone I heard u pumping yr u-know-wht in the toilet kay...hehehe). It’s not that I don’t wanna go in the first place, it’s just that well, I have this habit of making up my mind at the very last minute. So there we were the 4 of us in the bus at 8am. I think the minute we got on the bus all of us went to sleep. Ni semua pasal World Cup lah. Errmm..not that I am complaining. All of us stayed up to watch the game and I have to say it was all worth it. *Grin*
We arrived in Spore around 2.30pm and checked into Elizabeth Hotel which is on top of the hill. It took us about 10 minutes to walk down to Paragorn. Not so bad going downhill but believe me carrying all that shopping bags up the hill was simply daunting. After we checked in, we decided to do a little bit of shopping before going to the concert. Went to Charles and Keith and I got myself a pair of sandal and a black handbag! Then I bought 2 pairs of earrings from Chomel (my goodness, the clothes there are really “comel” and could only fit “comel” people. Hahaha!)
Went back to the Hotel around 6.30pm. Got ready and went with Athena and her bf to the National Indoor Stadium to get the tickets. Then waited for Sparkle to get to the Stadium. Lama giler tunggu minah ni okay. Bersiap mengalahkan anak dara! Hehehe…While waiting for Sparkle to arrive the 3 of us queued up to go into the stadium. Then all of a sudden everyone who were in the queue dispersed and there were no more queues. Like whoa! Everyone just rushed in to get into the stadium. Bermulalah kejadian tolak-menolak and I am sure adalah yang kena raba tu.
The Mind Blowing Concert
We went into the stadium and I was amazed of how huge it was. The speakers were hanging from the roof and the lighting was excellent! The stadium was packed! Full house okay!
After “Yellow” I think he sang his hit songs like “Speed of Sound”. He even ad-libbed in "Got Put A Smile..." singing "...God let us tour the Far East..."
The he sang “What If”, “How You See the World”, “Ring of Fire”, “The Scientist”…
He also quipped that "Till Kingdom Come" was about waiting for your favourite band to return (making reference to their first joint-gig with Travis in Singapore). He slipped in a reference to The Backstreet Boys mid-song too. This man is seriously funny!
After he sang “Talk”, Chris said goodnite and left the stage with the band but of course we knew he would come back on coz he did not sing my song! I mean how could he not sing “Fix You”, right? That is a must song after all their concerts.
As predicted, after waiting for 10 minutes he came back on stage for the encore and sang “Swallowed in the Sea” followed by “In My Place” and “Fix You”.
That’s it!! I was deliriously happy after that. I was standing, shouting and screaming throughout the concert. It was all so worth it. “Talk”, “White Shadows” and “Clocks” created an incredible energy whereas “In My Place”, “Yellow”, “Trouble” and “Fix You” had the entire crowd singing along.
Absolutely mind blowing concert, the lights, the music and most of all, Chris Martin's voice. He sounds a hundred times better live and the kind of energy he has on stage and the way he gets the crowd going is incredible.
I leave you good folks with lyrics of his song called “warning Sign” from Coldplay's 2nd album “A Rush of Blood to the Head”…
