Sunday Night Footie

Hubby and I recently got our very own Astro installed in our bedroom (We live with my parents so everytime we want to watch American Idol or sports, hubby and I had to go downstairs to watch it). Most of the time we have to miss the Idol 8pm show because my dad would watch the news and sometimes by 11.30pm we would be so tired and sleepy we would somehow missed watching the show which was really sucky.

Hubby would complained that everytime he finished watching ManU game on tv with my dad he would get sore throat, have difficulty to breath and would smell really bad from the ciggie smoke (Yeah my dad smokes in the house. Even my mom couldn’t make him stop smoking in the house). It’s weird because hubby used to smoke before and one would think that he’s used to the smoke and the smell. Nonetheless, I know how he feels, which is why I don’t usually watch tv downstairs if my dad is around because I can’t really stand the ciggie smoke and smell (he smokes the Gudang Garam btw) even though my favourite tv show is on. Before we got married, hubby used to come to my house everytime the ManU game is on because at that time he didn’t have Astro at his apartment. And everytime there’s a game my dad would ask me if hubby is coming to watch the game or would ask me to call and tell hubby to come over to watch the game with him.

I think maybe that’s why my dad likes him because they have something in common to talk about besides me of course. So over the years hubby and my dad have been watching football games together and bonded I suppose. When I am upstairs I could hear both of them shouting, “Goal!!!!” everytime one of the MU players scored a goal.

So tonight MU is playing against Middlesbrough. I told hubby that my dad would loose his footie buddy and have to watch football alone now that we have Astro in the room. Then hubby did something really sweet and thoughtful. Hubby said he would watch the game with my dad downstairs even though I know he would feel “terseksa” inhaling all that smoke. Things like this makes me love him even more and the fact that he would have to suffer for 2 hours just so he could accompany my dad to watch the game, well, that’s just the kind of person he is. Thoughtful and kind.

On another note, I changed my profile picture in my Facebook yesterday. Last night I got a message from this guy which said,

“Hello, how are you? Nice profile pic by the way. You look very pretty”

To which I replied, “Thanks. You have a nice profile pic too. Is that your car?” (He had a picture of a Ferrari as his profile pic).

He replied, “Nah. Someday it will be. Too bad you’re married though J”

Hmmm…I didn’t reply to the message. I wanted to ask what he meant by that but I think I kinda know what he was insinuating. I checked his profile and it said that he was single. You see, if I was to flirt with the guy I would’ve answered,

“And if I wasn’t, what would you do?”

When you’re married there are certain things that you shouldn’t be saying to the opposite sex even though you think it’s innocent. If my husband were to tell me that a girl is pretty in front of me then I would be okay with that. But if my husband were to message a girl who is single or married that she is pretty behind my back then I would have a problem with that.

So anyway, I’m thinking of changing my profile pic. There’s a lot of weirdos out there on the internet. Tak pasal2 kena stalk plak kang. Hehehehe…

9 Naga

I watched the Indonesian movie "9 Naga" with hubby last night. No matter how many times I watched it, I'll cry every single time. It was directed by that guy who made Ada Apa Dengan Cinta and Tentang Dia.
The most touching part was when Marwan's wife was reading the letter written by her husband. It was actually a goodbye letter and this is what it said,
"Istriku Ajeng... Manusia terkuat yang pernah ku kenal....
Terima kasih atas rumah terindah yang telah ku tempati....
Terima kasih untuk memberi maaf... sebelum aku meminta...
Terima kasih untuk bersabar... sampai aku tahu...
kalau hal-hal terbaik dalam hidup...
Tidak memerlukan uang...
Seperti suara mu yang selalu setia... menuntun ku... pulang ke hati mu...
rumah ku yang terindah...
Suami mu... Marwan..."
The movie was about Love. Friendship. Loyalty.
A must see movie for everyone.

You Can Only Pray

If beauty is only skin-deep, then why do men always fall head over heels over gorgeous but not so smart chicks?

Men always say that they prefer intelligent, witty and independent women. But I bet deep down they would rather their girlfriend/wife be drop dead gorgeous so other men can tell them how lucky they are to bag such a prize.
Are men that shallow? I would like to think that men have evolved over the years. But have they, seriously?

Another question that needs answering is, Is it okay for married men to flirt even when they have no intention (that’s what they say la) of taking it a step further? Why do they do it in the first place? Nak test power perhaps?

Have you ever asked yourselves why your husband and/wife chose you as their significant other? Have you asked yourselves,

“Am I good enough for him/her?” or

“Can he/she love me till the day I die?” or

“Will he/she be faithful to me till the end?” or

“What will I do if he/she betrays me?”

How do you sleep at night without knowing the answers?

I guess marriage is a gamble. You can never be certain how it will turn out. It could go either way. You can only pray that the sparks will never die and that the love grows stronger each and everyday. You can only pray.

Sometimes...

Sometimes you don’t know how precious something is until you have lost it.

Sometimes you take for granted small little things like kissing your wife/husband good night or good morning.

Sometimes you forget to say “thank you” when someone does something nice for you.

Sometimes you forget to say “I’m sorry” when you bumped into a stranger in a shopping mall.

Sometimes you forget to visit a good friend who is sick in the hospital.

Sometimes you forget to say “congratulations” to a friend who has just given birth to her first baby or to a friend who has just been promoted.

Sometimes you forget the people who voted you into power.

Sometimes you just forget.

You forget but you expect people to remember you.

Selfish. Inconsiderate. Forgetful.

The world is full of those people.

Are you one of them?

The Garage Sale..aftermath...

Remember the Garage Sale? We sold off most of the household items and clothes. But we didn't manage to sell the strollers and my collection of cassettes. Damn! Don't people listen to cassettes anymore? :P
So if anyone is interested to buy them cassettes from me PLEASE let me know. Collector's Item okay. Overall we made quite a bit money. I'm just glad I got rid of some of the junk that has been collecting dust under my bed. I still didn't have the heart to get rid of all of my romance novels. Sentimental value I guess. I enjoy reading Judith McNaught's novels over and over again. I'm a sucker for happy endings.
I think when you want to organise a garage sale you have to remember what is your objective of having the sale. Is it to make money or to get rid of the clutter/junk that you have accumulated over the years? What about people who go to the sale? Are they looking for items on bargains or are they in fact accumulating more junk? Our junk to be precise. In any case, I'm just glad there are people who are bargain hunters and look forward to these kinda sale. In fact there's even a website promoting these type of sales.

p/s : Sorry didnt get a chance to update my blog earlier. I just got back from Sydney. Attended a conference there for a week. Will post pics in here later.
