Not A Good Friday

  • It sucks when your boyfriend is angry at something or someone and he takes it out on you.

  • Everything you say can’t pacify him. Keeping quiet is an option but then he might think you just don’t care.

  • But when you say something that you think might help calm him down, he shoots you down with sarcastic comments. So damned if you do and damned if you don’t.

  • Then afterwards apologised by saying he said all that because he was stressed out. But the things he said when he was angry really hurt your feelings. And he knows it too. He can’t take it back.

  • You’re supposed to be this understanding girlfriend. But does that give him the right to say hurtful things without thinking the consequences of saying such words?
Arrrgggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!! Friday is supposed to be a good day! Today is not a good day for me. I am more sad than angry. I hate feeling sad.

p/s : Going on a treasure hunt tomorrow with my colleagues. Staying overnight in Malacca. This is my first experience treasure hunting. Just hope we don’t get lost. Hmmm…If we can’t figure out the clues, might as well pegi makan seafood kat Umbai.

10 Ways To Date Online Successfully

Seeing that I met the boyfriend online, I felt compelled to share some tips on Ways to Date Online Successfully. I am NOT saying I’m an expert la but I thought these tips were quite good and useful, for MEN especially.
Number 1 – Be Patient

The main thing to keep in mind is that an online relationship usually moves slower than conventional courtships. Therefore, you may want to hold off on asking her out.

If you feel as though you've struck gold with a certain someone, don't get overly excited. Read: don't fill up her inbox with notes and poems that express your admiration, and please don't jump at her the minute she logs on. Let the woman get situated; you're probably not the only reason she's turning on the computer.

Always Be A Gentleman. Although you're dating under a different context, a date is still a date, which means that regardless of the circumstances, you have to know what you're doing. Women will still judge you on your looks, interests, and how polite you are; distance should not deter you from being a gentleman.
Number 2 – Don’t Limit Yourself

Keep all your options open; don't disregard profiles without pictures. Your initial priority should be finding someone with similar likes and interests. Once you introduce yourself, she'll probably be more forthcoming with a photo anyway. But don't wait too long before asking; looks matter somewhat, and you don't want to find out at the last minute that she's the antithesis of what you're looking for.

Number 3 – Add A Personal Touch

A great way to stand out from the rest is to leave a personal mark on all correspondence. Whether it's by signing off in a certain way (using your full name or a nickname she may have given you) or ending on a personal note tailored specifically for her, don't just key in your file number when signing off. You're trying to develop a rapport with this woman, and that means reminding her that there is an actual human being who's interested in her on the other end.

Number 4 – Be Mysterious

The lack of physical interaction in online relationships
means there's a lot less information she's getting from you, so use that to your advantage. Don't type scads of information; instead, be informative while withholding certain pieces of the puzzle. For example, go ahead and mention that you're a real romantic, but don't divulge any specifics as to how you plan on wowing her. Intrigue her all the more!

Number 5 – Don’t Be a Cliché

Originality is key, so stay away from the more generic descriptions, as they have been ridiculously overused. No woman will be interested in a guy that likes "long walks on the beach, candlelit dinners, and champagne and strawberries." Speak from the heart; simplicity and honesty will take you a lot further in the end.

Since neither of you have body language to feed off of, try as much as possible to use colorful language when expressing your enthusiasm for a given topic. Women love it when guys pay attention to detail, so you may want to express yourself using plenty of adjectives (hint: replace "yeah... that's cool," with "yes, I read a book on that by so-and-so last year").

Number 6 – Use an Original Screen Name

Your screen name will likely be the first thing women see when sifting through candidates, so make sure yours is simple and easy to remember (e.g. Zuhri K, Alex Y.). Of course, this is not the time to become absurdly creative; calling yourself "Pimpdaddy6969" will likely kill any chances of landing someone who isn't a complete pervert, or hooker.

Number 7 – Don’t Allude To Sex

Remember, the same rules apply when it's an online romance. So unless you're looking solely for a one-night stand, postpone your more intimate disclosures until you actually meet. It's okay to flirt and dish out a double entendre here and there, just don't make it obvious that your hormones are on the verge of exploding.

And although communicating via hardware may tempt you into getting a little more "raw" with your prospect, keep things on the down low. Inviting her to continue your conversation
in a private chatroom is one thing, asking her to meet you on a "horny housewives" message board is quite another.

Number 8 – Be Realistic

In noting your long-term intentions, steer clear of anything remotely linked to marriage or children. You have yet to meet the woman, and you don't want to scare her before you even meet her (or worse, attract a "marriage-obsessed" psycho). Just say that you're looking for a friend, not the future mother of your children.

Number 9 – Proofread Your Profile

Among the cyber "turnoffs," nothing is worse than a person who doesn't bother to proofread those few lines before clicking "Send." If a resume typo could cost you a potential job, imagine what a few misplaced letters can do to your online love life
. Do you want a potential mate to think you have the grammatical abilities of a 12-year-old?

Number 10 – Post a Good Picture

Before you even start to think about possible topics of conversation, have to make sure you have an eye-catching profile, one that flaunts your better side and leaves prospective suitors wanting more.

And please have the common sense to attach a decent picture of yourself; most women are looking for a mature and dignified man. So while a shot of you and your buddies on one of your tequila binges may seem funny to you, there's a good chance you'll be staring at a blank screen for a long time.

p/s : I know people say looks shouldnt matter but hey, in the real world it wouldnt hurt to look like Brad Pitt

The Unnecessary War

Last weekend I watched the music video of “Where’d You Go” by the group Fort Minor and I actually cried. So few music videos have been able to make me weep but this one really tug my heartstrings. No matter what you say about Fort Minor i.e. it being a boy band and all, Mike Shinoda writes good lyrics.

The song is about American families who had to part with their brother/husband/father when they were sent to fight the Iraqi soldiers. It showed interviews with family members who had lost their loved ones in the war. Personally, I despise Bush for sending his troops into Iraq. That man is a buffoon and should be shot or probably cut off his balls and feed them to the wolves. Why he’s still voted as the U.S. President for another term baffles me. Haven't they learned anything from what happened in Vietnam?

To me, it was an unnecessary war for whatever reasons you might give. Saddam is indeed a tyrant but there are other ways to deal with someone like him and killing innocent children and women are not one of them. The war took so many lives and I think the Americans have forgotten that they are not the only people who have lost their loved ones.

So yeah this song made me cry. Not for the fallen American or Iraqi soldiers but for what it represents. Loss. Sadness. Despair. Suffering. Pain. Tyranny. Inhumanity.

The war could’ve been avoided. I don’t know how but surely it could have. I want to believe that it could have been avoided.

I think Edwin Starr said it best with his song called "War". What is it good for? Abso"freakin"lutely nothing!
Oh no-there's got to be a better way
Say it again
There's got to be a better way-yeah
What is it good for?
*War has caused unrest
Among the younger generation
Induction then destruction
Who wants to die?
War-huh!
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothing
Say it again
War-huh
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothing
Yeah
War-I despise
'Cos it means destruction
Of innocent lives
War means tears
To thousands of mothers how
When their sons go off to fight
And lose their lives
I said
War-huh
It's an enemy of all mankind
No point of war
'Cos you're a man*
Give it to me one time-now
Give it to me one time-now
War has shattered
Many young men's dreams
We've got no place for it today
They say we must fight to keep our freedom
But Lord, there's just got to be a better way
It ain't nothing but a heartbreaker
WarFriend only to the undertaker
War
War
War-Good God, now
Now
Give it to me one time now
Now now
What is it good for?

The little things...

This was one of my favourite dialogues in the movie “Wedding Singer” starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore.

Julia: May I ask what happened with Linda?
Robbie: She wasn't the right one, I guess.
Julia: Did you have any idea she wasn't the right one when you were together?
Robbie: I should have. Uh, I remember we went to the Grand Canyon one time. We were flying there and I'd never been there before and Linda had, so you would think that she would give me the window seat but she didn't and... not that that's a big deal, you know. It's just there were a lot of little things like that. I know that sounds stupid...
Julia: Not at all. I think it's the little things that count.

We’ve all been in and out of love. When we break-up with the other person we often say, ‘I should have seen it coming” or “I knew the signs were there but I was too blinded by love to see it” or “I knew the relationship was doomed from the very beginning but the sex was really good so…”
  • Is it our fault for putting 100% effort in a relationship but in the end it didn’t turn out like how we had expected it to be?

  • Should the little things count or should we look at the bigger picture?

  • Have women/men nowadays become too sceptical when it comes to love that they feel the need to scrutinise every word or action that comes from the other person?

  • If the signs were there, why did we stay too long in the relationship and risk getting ourselves hurt?

Funny Banana

There’s this colleague of mine. She’s in a different department but we sit close by to each other and she always say that even though she can’t see me at my place she can always tell whether I’m around or not because she claims she can hear my voice all the way from her place which is an absolute rubbish I tell ya. I’m not that loud. Hehehe…

So anyway, we call her Banana. Banana is happily married to an American boy (I say “boy” because I swear he doesn’t look a day above 20!). Banana is one of the funniest women I have ever met. She’s witty and always comes up with funny stories and one-liners that could really crack you up. An asset to have when you’re having a dull day at the office.

Story 1

It was raining cats and dogs one day and Noobs, another colleague of mine who is in the same department with Banana got spooked when she saw lightning and heard thunder at her work station. She then had asked Banana what was the word that we Moslems would say everytime we see lightning (which would be “Astaghfirlahalazim” of course) and Banana with a straight face said, “Whoa?”

That woman is definitely going to Hell. Hahahahahaahahahahaaha…Sorry Banana...

P/s : Banana is Malay btw…hehehehe

Story 2

There were few spots available for senior executive positions and Noobs’ boss had asked her to apply for the position. In a way it’s actually a promotion for Noobs. Noobs had some reservation and was not too keen to apply because she said there’s no way the Management was going to promote her and all. So my dear friend Banana told Noobs to just apply for the position because you'll never know what could happen. Conversation between Noobs and Banana below :-

Banana : Have you applied for the position yet?

Noobs : Haiyoo…Dunnolah can get or not. I don’t wanna get disappointed. Put my hopes up and then tak dapat. Frust jer.

Banana : Iskh budak ni. Just apply and taubat (repent) jer lah.

Noobs : Huh? Taubat? *Looked puzzled*

Banana : Ermm…not taubat issit? I know that word starts with a “t”.

Noobs : Heheheheheheh…U mean TAWAKAL (leave it to fate) issit?

Banana : What? Tawakal?? Cannot be! Isn’t that the name of the hospital? Hospital Tawakal? Is that what the name of the hospital means? How can you name a hospital “Tawakal”? Meaning when people send their sick relatives or family members to the hospital, the doctors and nurses will say, “We won’t do anything, you people can just leave the sick people here and just tawakal that they’ll get well” issit?

Noobs : Haiyooo Banana! *Laughed so hard until tears start to come out. Sher pun gelak gila sampai terguling-guling jatuh kerusi*

That’s our darling Banana for ya!
